Taro/Yam Balls
Taro/Yam Balls
1 cup taro or yam
1/3 cup sweet potato starch
1 tablespoon of sugar (if the yam is already sweet, then less sugar should be added)
Broth
Slices of ginger
Brown sugar
Dice the taro/yam.
Steam the taro and yam until it's tender. This normally takes 30 minutes.
Combine the taro/yam with sweet potato starch and mix.
Knead into a ball, then roll into a log and cut into small pieces.
Prepare the broth by adding slices of ginger and brown sugar (to taste) to boiling water.
The taro/yam balls should take 5 minutes to cook and are ready when they are floating.
