A Pinch of Yán is a site where I've collected recipes for dishes that I've cooked and enjoyed. These recipes serve a practical purpose, but they also serve a personal purpose because each one represents a snapshot of my life. "Yán" is Chinese for "salt". So "A Pinch of Yán" translates to "A Pinch of Salt."  Taking things with a pinch of salt is something that we do both literally and figuratively. Literally speaking, adding just a bit of salt to dishes can make a world of difference in the taste. Figuratively speaking, being skeptical and charting a unique path is something that I admire. The dual meaning of the phrase reflects the dual purpose that these recipes serve for me, so I decided to use this as the name for this site.

在 A Pinch of Yán 這個網站裡，我收集了我做過和喜歡的食譜。 這些食譜具有實際用途，但也具有個人意義，因為每一道菜都代表了我生活中的一個瞬間。 “Yán” 在漢語中是“鹽”的意思。 所以 “A Pinch of Yán” 翻譯成“一撮鹽”。 對事物持保留態度是我們在字面上和比喻上都會做的事情。 顧名思義，只要在菜餚中加一點鹽，味道就會大不相同。 形像地說，持懷疑態度並開闢一條獨特的道路是我所欽佩的。 這句話的雙重含義反映了這些食譜為我服務的雙重目的，所以我決定用這個作為這個網站的名字。
